The British used the Grand Hotel Kroeger as the headquarters of the British police and intelligence. The rooms in the basement were used as torture rooms where hundreds of members of the Nationalist Forces resisting the invasion were tortured. The Kroeger Hotel was located near Pera Hotel, which was the interrogation center of the British intelligence.
